Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to immediately stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.
The judge ruled that Uzodimma did not win the APC senatorial primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Delivering judgment, Justice Egwuatu held that the evidence before the court established that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast at the primary election and was therefore entitled to be recognised as the winner.
Consequently, the judge ordered the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, scheduled for January 16, 2027.
