Nwoko: I Never Made Fresh Claims or Received $350m in Paris Club Refund

Senator Ned Nwoko (APC, Delta North) has dismissed reports alleging that he and his company received $350 million in relation to the Paris Club refund, insisting that no such payment or fresh claim was made.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his media office, the senator said his attention had been drawn to what he described as a “wilful and malicious” publication by Sahara Reporters, which suggested new claims connected to the long-standing Paris Club refund controversy.

Nwoko described the report as false, misleading, and a distortion of facts that, according to him, have already been thoroughly examined by relevant authorities.

He stated that the matter had been subjected to multiple investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), including a recent review ordered by the current administration, all of which, he claimed, reached the same conclusion—that contractual services were duly executed and that any outstanding payments remain valid under existing agreements.

He further said that supporting records exist within the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of Nigeria, where all federal payments are processed, documented, and subject to audit.

The senator also rejected allegations linking him to any improper dealings involving the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, describing such claims as unfounded and malicious.

According to him, the narratives were being circulated by individuals including George Uboh and Omoyele Sowore, whom he accused of driving a sustained misinformation campaign for political or personal motives.

He added that appropriate legal actions had already been initiated in response to what he termed defamatory publications against the individuals and their affiliates.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I state unequivocally that there is no ‘fresh claim’ and at no time was $350 million paid to me or my company,” he said, adding that he remains committed to due process, transparency, and the rule of law.
