President Bola Tinubu has appointed DIG Kayode Egbetokun as Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
Egbetokun was Chief Security Officer to Tinubu as Governor of Lagos State in 1999.
Egbetokun’s appointment follows the retirement of the IGP Baba Usman Akali.
President Tinubu retired all Service Chiefs, the IGP and other officials on Monday.
Egbetokun had served as Commissioner of Policer in Lagos and Ogun states.
The Ogun State-born officer enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on March 3, 1990, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. He was born on September 4, 1964 in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Egbetokun graduated from the University of Lagos with Bachelor of Science degree (BSC) in Mathematics in June 1987 and lectured Mathematics briefly at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos.
He obtained MSC Engineering Analysis from the University of Lagos, Akoka, 1996, PGD in Petroleum Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, 2000, and an MBA from Lagos State University, Ojo, 2004.
The President also retired all Advisers, and Comptroller-General of Customs from Service.

Tinubu also approved their replacements with immediate effect.
The newly appointed Officers are:

2 Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Defence Staff
3 Maj. T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff
4 Rear Admirral E. A Ogalla, Chief of Naval Staff
5 AVM H.B Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff
6 DIG Kayode Egbetokun Acting Inspector-General of Police
7 Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye Chief of Defense Intelligence
The President has approved the appointment of Adeniyi Bashir Adewale as the Acting. Comptroller General of Customs.
Director of Information, Willie Bassey, who issued the statement on behalf of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) stated that: “It is to be noted that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
