Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was prevented from presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday.
His attempt to lay the budget followed a Supreme Court ruling that halted federal allocations to the state until the budget is approved.
However, upon arriving at the Assembly complex, Fubara was locked out.
Addressing the media outside, the governor stated that his move was in the interest of the people of Rivers State. He added that he had formally notified the Speaker and even spoken with him before arriving in person.
Since December 2023, the Assembly has been holding sessions at the Legislative Quarters in Port Harcourt after the state government demolished its main complex.
