The historic city of Abeokuta came alive on Saturday, August 23, 2025, as eminent personalities gathered to celebrate the Nikkah ceremony of Faizah Omoteniola Kolapo, daughter of Dr. (Mrs.) Yemi Kolapo, Publisher of The Point Newspaper and Iya Sunnah of Egbaland, and AbdulHakeem Jimoh, son of retired Brigadier-General Olanrewaju Jimoh.

The ceremony, held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Marquee, was a vibrant display of culture, elegance, and high-profile fellowship. Guests traveled from far and near, describing their presence as a show of respect for Dr. Kolapo’s philanthropic work and Brig.-Gen. Jimoh’s service to society.

Among the dignitaries were former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his wife, Chief Mrs. Bola Obasanjo; Emir of Kano, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II; former Ogun State Governors Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Aremo Olusegun Osoba; the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola; and many others.

Other attendees included Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State (represented by top officials following his father’s passing), former Presidential aspirant Chief Dele Momodu, JAMB Registrar Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Ambassador Sarafa Ishola, and several senators, commissioners, and corporate leaders.

The media industry was impressively represented, with past and present leaders of Punch Newspapers, Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), International Press Institute, and other associations in attendance.

A distinguished line-up of Islamic clerics, including the Chief Imams of Egbaland, Ijebuland, Remoland, and Owu Kingdom, officiated the Nikkah. The wedding lecture, delivered by Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, emphasized loyalty, patience, and mutual respect in marriage. Emir Sanusi also admonished the couple to build their home on love and compassion.

In emotional remarks, the groom’s father, Brig.-Gen. Moshood Jimoh (rtd), thanked God for the union, while the bride’s mother, Dr. Kolapo, expressed pride in her daughter, urging the couple to live in peace and protect their love from intruders.

The ceremony was further enlivened by Fuji maestro K1 De Ultimate, who thrilled guests with his signature tunes, as well as the presence of Nollywood icons including Adebayo Salami (Oga Bello), Bimbo Akintola, Fathia Balogun, Toyin Abraham, and Madam Saje.

Serving and retired senior military officers, political leaders, diplomats, corporate executives, and cultural icons all came together to witness the union, making the event one of Abeokuta’s most glamorous celebrations in recent years.
