The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering dedication to winning all land battles in defense of the nation’s territorial integrity. Speaking through Maj.-Gen. Kelvin Aligbe at the Army Headquarters 2024 Christmas Carol in Abuja, Oluyede urged personnel to remain focused, disciplined, and loyal to the authority.
The COAS emphasized the importance of patriotism, knowledge, and commitment to duty, while acknowledging the sacrifices made by officers and soldiers, particularly those deployed in various theaters of operation during the festive period. He commended their tireless efforts in securing lives and properties across the country.
Oluyede also reiterated his commitment to enhancing the welfare of army personnel and their families, as well as reinforcing professionalism and combat readiness. He emphasized his leadership’s focus on sound administration, personnel welfare, and an efficient system of rewards and sanctions to strengthen the force’s capabilities.
In his message, the COAS expressed deep appreciation for President Bola Tinubu’s continued support and strategic guidance to the Nigerian Army, assuring that the Army would remain resolute in safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty while aiding civil authorities within a joint, multi-agency environment. The event was attended by military leaders, religious figures, and corporate representatives, celebrating the Christmas season with readings, songs, and entertainment.
