Members of the 42nd Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) on Saturday reunited in Abuja to reflect on their shared journey, renew old bonds and give thanks for God’s guidance over the years.

The alumni, many of whom are senior serving officers occupying strategic positions across the Armed Forces, reaffirmed their commitment to national service and development.

Speaking at the reunion, the Course President, Maj.-Gen. Eyitayo Oyinlola, described the gathering as more than a social event, saying it was a moment for reflection, gratitude and a renewed dedication to the values instilled by the NDA.

Oyinlola said the bond forged during their years as officer cadets had endured the test of time, strengthened by shared sacrifices and sustained by loyalty to one another and to the nation.

“We arrived as individuals, but we were moulded into a pack. Today, by God’s grace, the pack is reunited,” he said.

He noted that although members of the Course had been dispersed across different commands, institutions and even continents by duty and life’s responsibilities, the spirit of the Course had remained strong.

According to him, the reunion offered an opportunity for members to reconnect, relive shared memories and draw strength from one another’s experiences.

He urged them to look beyond nostalgia and remain focused on continued relevance, mentorship of younger officers, and meaningful contributions to national security and development.

Oyinlola also paid tribute to deceased members of the Course who paid the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation, describing their courage and patriotism as enduring legacies that must be honoured and upheld.

He said the strength of the Course would continue to be measured by its unity, collective experience and sustained contribution to the Armed Forces and the country at large.

The course president commended the reunion planning committee for its dedication and meticulous organisation of the event, while also appreciating spouses and families for their unwavering support over the years.

The reunion featured reflections, tributes and social interactions aimed at strengthening camaraderie and reinforcing the shared values of the Nigerian Defence Academy.

Pressroom reports that the reunion marked 35 years since members of the Course first met at the Academy for military training and were subsequently commissioned into their respective services.
