The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) has inaugurated a state-of-the-art Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, along with modern dining and student preparatory halls at NAOWA College, Abuja, aimed at enhancing the education and welfare of military families.
The NAOWA President, Mrs. Safiyyah Shaibu, in her address at the inauguration on Wednesday, described the project as a reflection of vision, commitment, and purposeful leadership.
She said the new facilities would improve students’ learning experiences and contribute to national development.
“The CBT Centre will equip students with digital skills for the future, while the dining and preparatory halls are designed to foster physical well-being and academic focus,” she said.
Mrs. Shaibu acknowledged the role of her predecessor, Mrs. Mernan Femi-Oluyede, who initiated the projects, and expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, for his support.
She noted that the facilities would benefit not only NAOWA College students but also the broader military community and surrounding neighborhoods.
Highlighting NAOWA’s commitment to military families, she urged students to make full use of the facilities responsibly.
She also commended other military and police wives’ associations for their support in advancing welfare initiatives.
Represented by the Chief of Administration (Army), Maj.-Gen. Isa Abdullahi, the COAS praised NAOWA for enhancing education and welfare within military families.
He said the new facilities would provide students with opportunities to develop digital literacy, enjoy modern dining spaces, and study in conducive environments.
In her remarks, the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Mernan Femi-Oluyede, lauded NAOWA’s dedication to educational excellence.
She described the facilities as symbols of vision, leadership, and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of continuity in achieving long-term goals.
