On Monday, Mojisola Meranda, Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, officially moved into her new office at the Assembly Complex.
Videos circulating on social media captured Meranda’s supporters offering prayers and expressing gratitude as she assumed her role.
In anticipation of the plenary session, security around the Assembly Complex has been ramped up. The session comes amid ongoing tensions and rumors of a potential confrontation, as former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa publicly declared on Saturday that he still considers himself the Speaker.
Obasa, who was removed on January 13, 2025, following allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement, denied the accusations, urging lawmakers to provide evidence.
Today’s plenary marks the third session led by Meranda, with Obasa absent from the previous two.
