The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has partnered with Master Agent Show, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), to mobilise over 50,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) students across Nigeria in the fight against corruption.
ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at the launch of the Basic Education Anti-Corruption Debate (BEAD), an initiative of the NGO aimed at promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability among young Nigerians through debates.
Aliyu, represented by Mr. Okor Odey, Divisional Head, Education and Deputy Director, Public Enlightenment and Education Department, ICPC, said the collaboration seeks to strengthen the anti-corruption campaign at the basic education level nationwide.
“Master Agent Show presented an idea that, while not entirely new, is unique. The BEAD project aligns with ICPC’s mission of addressing social challenges through education, awareness, and reorientation,” Aliyu said.
He explained that the initiative targets 5,000 schools and 50,000 students in JSS1 to JSS3, engaging them in debates designed to shape their understanding of ethics and corruption. The project will run simultaneously in all 36 states and the FCT, using digital platforms to reach participants until the final stage.
According to him, the programme goes beyond awards and recognition. It aims to build a generation of anti-corruption champions and embed discussions on ethics into the daily lives of young Nigerians through documentaries, media partnerships, and school debates.
Mr. Osigbeme Enike, Managing Director of Master Agent Show, described BEAD as a transformative movement that uses education to dismantle systemic corruption.
“Through BEAD, over 5,000 schools will mobilise more than 50,000 students to deliberate on critical themes such as ‘Citizens’ Character or Government Cabinet: Who Ends Corruption?’,” Enike said.
He noted that schools will submit videos of debates for broadcast on radio, YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms, reaching an estimated 10 million radio listeners and over one million digital viewers per episode. The programme will run in four phases—School Engagement, Regional Selection, Nationwide Broadcast, and Awards—between September 2025 and July 2026.
Mr. Domini Ogakwu, Chief Marketing Executive of BEAD, urged organisations and business owners to support the initiative through sponsorships, media advocacy, and airtime purchases.
“This is an investment in youth development that will help restore lost values in our schools and communities,” he said.
