Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive and quality education by donating two brand-new 32-seater Toyota Coaster buses to the School for Special Needs, Ilorin, and Queen Elizabeth School, the state’s flagship girls-only secondary school.

The donations, presented during the Governor’s separate visits to the schools on Tuesday, were met with excitement from students, teachers, and administrators.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the gesture was part of his government’s deliberate investment in education infrastructure to enhance learning outcomes and improve the welfare of students.

“We have to keep our eyes on the ball. The fact that these schools face challenges means we need to give them attention, particularly for the sake of children with special needs. We must ensure that the Ministry of Education continues to focus on their needs,” he said at the School for Special Needs, which currently caters for about 500 students with various learning disabilities.

The Governor recalled that his administration had previously provided the school with learning aids, hearing devices, water supply, streetlights, and other infrastructure, promising to do more, including improving their solar power system.

“This intervention is just additional. We will continue to deepen our support for this institution and others,” he added, urging parents and guardians to keep supporting their children to thrive.

At Queen Elizabeth School, Governor AbdulRazaq promised to address other pressing issues, including the school’s perimeter fencing and electricity challenges, noting that the government owes a duty to sustain the vision of the school’s founders.

Both principals, Alhaji Abdulganiyi Olododo (School for Special Needs) and Alhaja Rashidat Oluwakemi Abdul (Queen’s School), praised the Governor’s consistent support, describing the buses as timely interventions that will ease mobility and improve the learning environment.

Olododo said: “As far as this school is concerned, your work is everywhere — from classrooms to clinics, halls, water, and streetlights. This bus is a memorable gift to us.”

Also speaking, President of the Old Students of Queen Elizabeth School, Dr. Funke Opadokun, commended the Governor’s strides in education and infrastructure development.

“This is my first time meeting you, but I pray for you every day. From Adewole to Tanke now takes me only eight minutes because of the roads your government built. We are so proud of what you are doing,” she said.
