A gospel artiste, Rev. Otasowie Ehanire, popularly known as Prince Charles, has reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing the next generation of singers in Nigeria through mentorship and music.

Ehanire, who recently released a song titled “Okemmuo”, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the track celebrates God’s almightiness and His enduring goodness to humanity.

Speaking on his inspiration, the artiste said his journey into gospel music began at an early age, influenced largely by his parents—particularly his mother, who introduced him to music at home.

He noted that listening to legendary musicians like Osayomore Joseph and Akaba Man helped shape his passion, while performing at the Apollo Theatre from the age of 13 boosted his confidence and stage presence.

Beyond early influences, Ehanire said a divine encounter with God became the defining moment that shaped his calling into gospel music, with most of his songs centred on praise and worship.

Highlighting his mentorship efforts, he disclosed that he has sponsored studio sessions and music production for at least six emerging artistes, helping them overcome financial barriers in the industry.

According to him, his mission is to use music as a tool for transformation, hope, and spiritual awakening, encouraging faith, resilience, and gratitude among listeners despite prevailing social and moral challenges.

Describing himself as goal-driven, Ehanire said his purpose transcends commercial success, stressing that gospel music is a calling.

He added that his long-term vision is to spread God’s message globally while mentoring young talents.

“Success for me is not about fame or wealth, but about lives touched and souls inspired,” he said, noting that his lyrics portray God as Almighty, faithful, and ever-present.

He explained that his songs, particularly “Okemmuo,” express deep gratitude and reverence, helping listeners connect with God as a loving and compassionate Father.

The artiste also identified key challenges facing gospel musicians, including inadequate funding and limited industry support.

Reflecting on his body of work, Ehanire said his songs are rooted in praise and thanksgiving, inspired by personal testimonies of God’s goodness, with the aim of strengthening faith and inspiring worship among listeners.
