In a major highlight of Nigeria’s legal calendar, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) on Thursday announced the elevation of 57 legal practitioners and one academic to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). The announcement followed the Committee’s 169th plenary session chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, at the Supreme Court Complex, Abuja.
The rank of SAN – the equivalent of Queen’s Counsel in the United Kingdom – is the highest honour in the Nigerian legal profession and is conferred on advocates who have achieved excellence in legal practice and academics who have made outstanding contributions to the development of legal scholarship.
