Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been recognized as an exceptional leader by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who commended his remarkable achievements for the people of Kwara.
Her praise came on the second day of her visit to the state capital on Wednesday.
Senator Tinubu, accompanied by Vice President’s wife Nana Shettima, Nigeria Governors’ Forum Chairman, Amb. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, and several other First Ladies from across the country, began the day by flagging off the distribution of 10,000 professional kits to midwives in the North Central region.
She then launched the General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover in Ilorin, a tribute that Cecilia Idiagbon, widow of the late General, said was memorable and reflected Governor Abdulrazaq’s respect for history.
Later, the First Lady visited the Innovation Hub, designed to be Kwara’s version of Silicon Valley, aimed at fostering the growth of future tech leaders and addressing local developmental challenges.
“I am so, so glad with what I have seen. This is truly amazing, and I will share it with the President. Governor, you are a man who truly loves his people. You have done incredibly well,” she said after a tour led by the Hub’s Managing Director, Temi Kolawole, while the Governor and his wife were present.
Her visit sparked a conversation about establishing a “Dream Centre” to provide underprivileged children with opportunities to succeed.
“What I have seen here is born out of a clear vision for where the Governor wants his people to be. This dream is coming alive… You have enough projects to showcase, and I am truly proud of you,” Senator Tinubu remarked.
She then visited the site of the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Hospital, which she had previously laid the foundation for.
The multi-storey hospital, being built on the site of the old civil service clinic in the GRA, aims to offer premium healthcare services to Kwara residents and beyond, according to Health Commissioner Dr. Amina Ahmed el-Imam.
Senator Tinubu also officially opened the Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Flyover in downtown Ilorin, named after the respected Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs.
The General Tunde Idiagbon Flyover stretches 562 meters, while the Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Flyover spans 457.4 meters, both enhancing the road networks and aesthetics of the city.
Her motorcade then visited the Sugar Factory Film Studio, another legacy project of the Abdulrazaq administration, marking the end of her day’s activities.
At the midwives’ professional kits distribution event, Senator Tinubu praised the hospitality of the Governor and his wife, calling it a standard that other states should follow.
“This is amazing, and the hospitality is top-notch. I want other First Ladies to adopt this as a template,” she said.
On the professional kits presented to the midwives, she added, “This is part of the federal government’s ongoing retraining exercise for 120,000 frontline health workers nationwide. We’ve already trained 54,346 health workers, and the Renewed Hope Initiatives (RHI) has procured 60,000 branded scrubs and
