Raymond Dokpesi a Nigerian media mogul and entrepreneur, known for founding RayPower and Africa Independent Television (AIT) is reported dead.

He was 71 years old.

Accordingly the news reports, while the circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be clear, it was gathered that Dokpesi had suffered a stroke in April and had been under strict medical supervision and a rehabilitation program.

Raymond Dokpesi was a media entrepreneur who contributed significantly to the industry in Nigeria. He was born on October 25, 1951, in Ibadan, Nigeria. Dokpesi held a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the University of Göttingen in Germany and a Master’s degree in Marine Structures from the University of Hamburg.

Dokpesi’s career in the media industry began when he founded DAAR Communications Plc. in 1996. DAAR Communications is a prominent Nigerian media conglomerate and the parent company of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower FM.
