The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 5, Benin, Mr. Salma-Dogo Garba, has assured residents of stringent security arrangements to ensure a peaceful Easter celebration across Edo and Delta states.
In a message to Christians in the zone, conveyed through SP Tijani Momoh, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Garba encouraged residents to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, peace, and unity that the Easter season represents. He further called on communities to use the period for reflection, tolerance, and harmonious coexistence.
Garba stated that comprehensive security measures had been deployed throughout the zone in line with the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force and the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for the protection of lives and property.
“These measures include increased visibility patrols, strategic deployment of personnel to highways, link ways, motor parks, and recreational centers, as well as surveillance operations in public spaces.
Other steps include intelligence-led policing, stop-and-search duties, and collaboration with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration,” he explained.
He also urged the public to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and cooperative with security personnel, advising them to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or relevant security agency.
Wishing all Christian faithful a joyous and safe Easter, Garba reaffirmed the zone’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order before, during, and after the festivities.
