Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has announced the immediate commencement of the 17-kilometer Sango-Ijoko road project, which will be divided into two sections for quicker completion.
The Governor also revealed that the 3.25-kilometer Alagbole-Ajuwon-Akute road in Ifo Local Government Area is set for commissioning by the end of February 2025.
Governor Abiodun made the announcements during an inspection of several ongoing road projects in Ifo 2 state constituency. He explained that approximately four months ago, he had visited the area to assess the state of various roads, including Alagbole-Ajuwon, Denro-Ishashi-Akute, Ajuwon-Akite, Ijoko-Sango, and Lambe. At that time, he promised to return and commission the rehabilitated roads within a few months.
“Today, I am pleased to announce that the Alagbole-Akute road is 100% completed and ready for commissioning. The Ajuwon-Akute road, which spans 3.25 kilometers, is ongoing and will be fully completed by the end of February, by God’s grace,” Governor Abiodun stated.
Regarding the Sango-Ijoko road, the Governor explained that due to its length, the project would be split into two sections of 8 kilometers each. He added that work would begin immediately on the worst-hit sections of the road, with input from both the government and local residents to prioritize the most critical areas.
“This constituency is crucial to us, as it borders Lagos State, and there is significant cross-border migration. It is vital that we make this journey as comfortable as possible for our citizens, and we are fully committed to that,” Governor Abiodun emphasized.
The Governor also urged residents to take responsibility for the roads and maintain them properly for long-term use.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ifo CDC, Alhaji Akangbe Olatunde, praised Governor Abiodun for the ongoing road improvements, noting that the Governor had brought joy to the people of Ifo Local Government.
Additionally, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Hadijat Adeleye, highlighted the previous neglect of the area and expressed gratitude for Governor Abiodun’s leadership, stating, “We’ve endured so much suffering here, but Governor Dapo Abiodun has brought us hope, lifting us from the dust. We are deeply thankful.”
