Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has told  the Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that some of his supporters are not helping him over false claims.

He refered to some of Tinubu’s supporters as enemies.
Obasanjo described some of the statements credited to him on his meeting with Tinubu as fake statements.

The former president stated that the meeting was more brotherly than political.

Tinubu had visited the former President at his Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Wednesday.

Tinubu was accompanied by former interim chairman of APC, Chief Bisi Akande; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun and two of his predecessors — Chief Segun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel were at the meeting.

The details of the meeting were not made known until Gbajabiamila divulged some of what transpired.

The Speaker at a party’s function during the week in Lagos revealed that Obasanjo prayed for Tinubu on his aspiration and make encouraging statements about the APC presidential candidate.

Some Tinubu’s supporters have attributed some statements to the former president showing tacit support for Tinubu.

The discussion at the meeting that lasted for over two hours was not made known to journalists as Tinubu refused to speak to journalists who accosted him after the meeting.

But, the former President in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Saturday, said the statements coming from those claiming to be supporters of Bola Tinubu are unhelpful.

The former President said the discussion during the visit was “more brotherly than political”.

Obasanjo said at the request of Tinubu, he agreed to no statement from either side.

“Those claiming to be insiders at the meeting issuing statement on the discussion and those crediting to me statement I had not made are enemies of the visitor and are not doing the visit any good,” said Obasanjo.
