Revised Opening Paragraphs
Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, the man at the centre of the controversy over the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), has broken his silence, denying allegations of fraud and impersonation while insisting that he was lawfully appointed by the Federal Government and would be vindicated by the courts.
Adeyemi, who made his first public appearance since the Presidency declared the PFIPC a fictitious government agency and accused him of forgery, impersonation and obtaining by false pretence, maintained that he possesses a genuine letter of appointment but declined to produce it, citing the ongoing criminal proceedings before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday night, the embattled Adeyemi repeatedly refused to respond to several allegations against him, maintaining that the matter was sub judice and should be left for the court to determine.
Responding to claims that he was a “con artist” who falsely held himself out as the Director-General of the PFIPC, Adeyemi said:
“I’m not a con artist. The matter is in a court of competent jurisdiction. I’m ready to clear my name.”
